The PZL W-3A Sokol has proven its outstanding capabilities as a very effective and reliable helicopter that is able to successfully perform day and night operations, in any weather conditions, in any climate conditions. The helicopter is equipped with two engines of 900 hp take-off power each and disposes of sufficient power reserve to continue the flight with one engine inoperative.
Description The PZL W-3A Sokol helicopter is a Cat.A medium twin engine helicopter of 6,400kg Maximum Take-Off Weight capable to carry up to 12 passengers and 2 pilots.
The certification of the PZL W-3A Sokół helicopter is in accordance with FAR 29 (amendment 26), Cat. A and B for VFR and IFR, day and night operations.
The PZL W-3A Sokół has been certified by the following Aviation Authorities
Versions Passenger version. The passenger cabin can accommodate up to 12 comfortable seats in a number of configurations.
VIP version Comfortably equipped cabin, accommodating 5-6 passengers.
Passenger/cargo version The cabin can accommodate up to 12 passengers or up to 2100 kg of cargo.
Flying crane version External cargo sling can carry loads of up to 2100 kg.
Law enforcement version Equipped with FLIR, search light, loudspeakers, NVG system, additional side steps/platforms and other specialized equipment.
Medevac version can carry two casualties on stretchers and two medical attendants.
EMS version equipped with modern intensive care apparatus, including defibrillator, respirator, cardiomonitor, designed to carry patients who require intensive medical treatment and life support.
Mountain rescue version Enables rescue operations high in the mountains - equipped with hoist of 270 kg lifting capacity, medical kit, landing operation equipment, ski landing gear.
SAR version Equipped with inflatable floats for emergency ditching and role equipment like life rafts, 270 kg hoist, marker buoys, homing system etc.
